Application Scope
Electrical Castings: High-voltage insulators, switchgear components, and molded electrical parts.
Potting & Encapsulation: Protection of sensitive electronic modules, sensors, and passive components.
Transformer & Coil Impregnation: Dry-type transformers, ignition coils, and heavy-duty motor windings.
Outdoor Insulation: Weather-resistant and UV-stable outdoor electrical components.
Epoxy Composites: Selected filament winding and pultrusion composite manufacturing.
Formulation & Processing Guidelines
Epoxy Resin Compatibility & EEW: Calculate the stoichiometric requirement based on the Epoxy Equivalent Weight (EEW) of your base resin and the Anhydride Equivalent Weight (AEW) of MHHPA. A starting stoichiometric ratio of 0.85 to 1.0 equivalent of anhydride per equivalent of epoxy is commonly evaluated.
Viscosity & Filler Loading: The low initial viscosity of MHHPA permits high loading levels of mineral fillers (such as silica or alumina) while maintaining adequate flow, mold-filling, and impregnation characteristics at processing temperatures.
Accelerator Selection: Tertiary amine or metal salt catalysts are typically required to control pot life, gel time, and cure kinetics. Dosage must be optimized through laboratory trials.
Curing Schedule & Thermal Management: Optimize ramp rates, gel temperatures, and post-cure cycles relative to component geometry and thickness to minimize residual stress and exothermic cracking.
Storage, Shelf Life and Safe Handling Guidelines
Storage Conditions: Store in original, tightly sealed containers in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and moisture. Recommended storage temperature: 15 to 35 deg C.
Shelf Life: 12 months from the manufacturing date when stored under recommended unopened conditions.
Handling Precautions: Avoid direct skin and eye contact. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and protective clothing. Use with adequate local exhaust ventilation during mixing and processing.
Crystallization Handling: If crystallization occurs due to low-temperature exposure during storage, gently heat the closed container in a warm water bath or designated hot room (not exceeding 50 deg C) and mix thoroughly until completely liquid before use.
Regulatory Compliance, Quality Control & Packaging
Documentation Support: Batch-specific COA, TDS, and SDS provided with shipments. Regulatory statements (REACH compliance, RoHS, TSCA) available upon request.
Packaging Options:
• 220 kg galvanized iron drums
• 1,100 kg IBC tanks / Totes
• Bulk ISO tank shipments (subject to minimum volume)
Storage & Handling: MHHPA is moisture-sensitive. Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent hydrolysis or crystallization.
FAQ
Q: What is the primary function of MHHPA in epoxy formulations?
A: MHHPA acts as a cross-linking (curing) agent for epoxy resins, providing thermal, mechanical, and electrical insulation properties suited for electrical and electronic manufacturing.
Q: Can MHHPA be cured without an accelerator?
A: Practical cure speeds and cross-link densities generally require an appropriate accelerator system. Final catalyst packages should be validated through laboratory testing.
Q: What information is required to request a commercial quotation?
A: Please specify your required grade/specification, estimated annual consumption (EAC), trial batch size, destination port, and preferred Incoterms (FOB/CIF/DDP).
